We take the time to get off the beaten path, visiting rural villages where traditional ways of life still hold sway, staying in some elegantly restored heritage hotels. Embrace the romance of lakeside Udaipur, wander the narrow laneways of  the far-flung desert fortress town of Jaisalmer and stay overnight in a tented camp atop a sand dune.
