This spectacular journey into Tibet will introduce you to the region's highlights and complex history as you get to know the people who call this beautiful rugged landscape home. Snowcapped mountains, deep valleys, azure skies, gushing rivers, turquoise lakes and rolling plateaus set the scene for your journey into China's most stunningly picturesque region. Your journey starts and ends in the Sichuan Province capital of Chengdu, gateway to Tibet and home to spicy cuisine, bustling teahouses and the world-famous Giant Panda.

Trip grading: ADVENTUROUS Suitable for travellers with above-average levels of fitness and mobility. Prepare for some long road journeys, plenty of walking and climbing of stairs, and coping with the effects of high altitude (over 4,000 metres above sea level).

What's included: 11 nights hotel accommodation, flights as specified, all road transport by air-conditioned vehicles, Tibetan travel permit, all sightseeing as specified (excluding entrance fees), Western tour leader based on a minimum of seven travellers, local English-speaking guides throughout, arrival and departure transfers, and breakfast daily.
